Gifts of adulting

Today I write about my best friend,a beautiful woman with an amazing soul. I don’t know where to start, so I will just wing it. People talk about fights they have with their sisters, and I have always wondered what that’s like. Then she walked into my life, and nothing has ever been the same. One year I was going through things alone like a loner, and this year I have shoulders to lean on. She is here when I need her; she shows up when it truly matters, and I can’t begin to explain how much that means the world to me. The kind of effort it takes to maintain adult friendships is a lot, and for us to have come this far is amazing. I don’t remember how it started, but I truly love how it’s going. We drive each other crazy sometimes, and yet we grow every day together.
My daughter loves her more than anything I have seen. She is an amazing aunt with an amazing personality. The other day, I was in my room on a phone call, and I could hear them talking. The laughter, the joy, and the whispers when they talk about me are pure bliss. I am grateful that I have a person who is intentional about being my friend.
I know that I can be a piece of work, but she never gives up. For a person who has so many walls built in to protect me, I know that she is worth every single wall I have taken down.
A big sister,a beautiful soul, a wonderful daughter, and my best friend,Joy . Just like her beautiful name, she really brings so much joy to my life.
I love you, I am grateful that I get to do life with you, and every day I realize God truly knows what we need. I never knew what was missing, but I know now that this was missing. Now I know what it means to have someone who loves you for exactly who you are. Thank you for being my friend. I hope I am half the friend you are to me today and every day.
