You haven’t had a long journey until you plan to travel long distances, and before the day, you do all your runs over time, promising yourself sleep through the journey. Just as you board a matatu and prepare to get comfortable, the person sitting next to you starts making phone calls. This phone call regards a building project he is doing at home, where he is headed, so he calls person 1 then person 2 until person 9. At the end of every phone call, after giving a million instructions, he says, “Hata niko njiani nakuja kukuonyesha.” Just as he is done and you finally fall back to sleep, it starts to rain. He calls person 4 to stay at the stage with his motorcycle so as to pick him up when he arrives. Person 1 mentions that Person 3 said something about the project, and he said the wrong thing, so he starts instructing 9 of them again. At this point, you are so tired and start asking yourself if the journey is important and if you can alight and lose the fare already paid. The economy stares at you, and it makes you realize losses aren’t worth it, so you sit tight, and he has stopped calling, but sleep has dumped you. This is the part where you start building castles and buying cars. After an hour, sleep is back, and you drift to slumber. Five seconds later, a person calls to say he found Mtu Wa Kubeba Mawe, and you wake up to nine phone calls. All persons are told to resume work after being told to stop Hadi Afike. After this journey, you promise to work so hard and buy a car, but before the car arrives, you pray for the return journey. As you sit next to a crying child, at least you won’t question why they cry, because even if you know you can’t help this Christmas,
