According to a cautionary statement from the principal secretary Ministry of Health Mary Muthoni, this will help protect citizens from emerging products that have presented a huge challenge in the fight against drug abuse.
“The proliferation of novel nicotine and emerging products presents a new challenge in the fight against substance abuse,” the statement read.
“Deceptive marketing tactics, especially targeting vulnerable populations, require vigilance and proactive efforts to shield our citizens from potential harm,” it added.
She has stressed that the rising surge of drug and substance abuse during this festive season has hugely catalyzed the inclining numbers of road accidents which have resulted in numerous loss of lives and injuries.
Mary cautioned that drivers who have exposed themselves to drugs during trips have experienced impaired judgment, decreased coordination, and slower reaction time which is fatal.
“A heightened risk of road traffic accidents during the Christmas festive season is linked to substance abuse,” she spotlighted.
“Impaired judgment, decreased coordination, and slower reaction times due to drug use significantly contribute to the escalating number of accidents on our roads,” she added.
She has further urged citizens to be vigilant and take proactive steps to prevent drug and substance abuse.
