You know those adult people y’all keep saying were raised well? Okay, they are heartbroken, most of them. Young people are hurting from childhood traumas, and older people are hurting from disappointments. So we hide behind memes, money, and trolling others. Ladies are here breaking hearts because some dude from their past broke their hearts. Men are breaking hearts and being all Taliban because the girl they once loved did a good number on them. And the drugs on their streets are mind-blowing. You look at them and wonder how they got People are drowning in anything that can make them forget the pain, even if it’s once. Then there are the professional heartbreaks—the worst kind of them all. You give it your all. I’m in school. Get good grades and finish strong. Then you tarmac, or if you are lucky, you get a job that is below your potential. You get fired, and now you do something you completely hate to make ends meet. And every single day, your soul breaks into tiny pieces because you don’t love what you do. But you are an adult with bills and responsibilities, possibly even black taxes. So you do what you have to do. Where does it stop? When do we start looking for a healthy way to deal with our traumas? When do we take time to heal from the pain? Or we are about to pass on our traumas to the next generation because we are afraid to look in the mirror and feel the pain of healing. Oh, and before you say you turned out well, did you really or have you said it so much that you now believe it’s true?
