I have always marveled at the sound of a mosquito. A sound so annoying coming from an animal so small. It is like listening to a triggering sound. I can’t quite place what to compare it with. That tiny animal ruined my sleep yesterday. Just when I fell asleep, it started singing in my ear, or was it crying? Oh, that annoying sound, so I woke to try and find it, which led to a loss of sleep. Before I could go back to sleep, I heard the sound, this time on both sides of my ears. Anyway, one hour later, I fell asleep and woke up this morning thinking. How amazing that something so small could ruin my night, and how such an annoying sound can come from an animal so small. Today I hope I can go to sleep early, which is unlikely because it rained today and those tiny animals breed in stagnated waters. Mosquito repellants are another reason I prefer mosquito nets; they smell so bad that my nostrils itch. Tropical problems—nature’s gift—bring a long list of these little mishaps. I love the rain and the smell of it as it washes dust away. The waters are flowing, and flowers blossom after the rains. The annoying sound of mosquitoes is a little price to pay for all the goodness of the rain.
