This is by far the one thing I have dreamt of so many times. I want to retire on a farm surrounded by trees, water, and lots of fruit trees. How amazing it would be to wake up to the chipping sounds of birds, the cock’s being my natural alarm, the bleating of goats, and the mowing of cows. Oh cows, beautiful cows, the movements in the morning, the milking, the collection of eggs, and the view of calves jumping in joy. I have dreamt of the harvest of fruits, the baskets woven with love, the harvest of maize, and the collection of cobs. I will also have vegetables—green, red, purple, and all colors. I love vegetables and healthy food. I will rear chicken in both broilers and layers. There will be eggs for breakfast, eggs for dinner, and eggs for visitors to carry when they leave. I will have a farm with enough cow feeds to satisfy my cows. During sunrise, the sun will shine through the trees to my face, and when it sets, I will be in a shade somewhere, listening to the sound of water flowing. I have this dream that I will have someone by my side. I want to be by his side. What is the difference, you might ask? When I am by his side, he leads and I follow. I want to retire with someone who is so amazing I can submit without a worry in the world because I will know he’s got my back and I got his, no matter what. We will ride off to the sunset on our farm. This farm will be so self-sufficient that we can stay within its fences for weeks on end. Before I forget, it will have an outside fireplace, one we can watch the stars in without feeling cold. For someone who loves the sound of water flowing, I hate the cold, but I wouldn’t be cold because, well, I will be surrounded by everything I love. Oh, I have dreamt of this part of my life so much that when I close my eyes, I can see. Every day, as I get closer to that, I am hopeful that one day I will wake up and say, Isn’t it beautiful when our dreams do come true?
