Intentional Parenting

Intentional Parenting

I went to pick up my child from school today, and she didn’t see me, so she thought I was late. She went back to play, and when she asked why I was late, I mentioned I had been waiting for thirty minutes. She said that is really a long time. I am sorry about that.
Despite the fact that this was partly my fault, her apology made me realize that she has grown. She knows when to own up to her mistakes and when to make someone feel better about things. Last week, she completely refused to admit that something that happened at home was her fault. So for a bit, I kind of thought that maybe she doesn’t like being wrong. It turns out she knows when she is, and I have never been more proud. The world is a scary place, and knowing that she can stand her ground is really exciting.
