Trust is letting go not because what we hold onto has not been a part of us, but knowing that what we exchange it for is more than we could ever ask of, think of or even imagine.
One of the major things that causes most people to hold on to things, places or even people, is fear. Fear that if they let go, there won’t be anything for them on the other side. That they will be left empty and not just empty, that they will be left helpless, and no one wants to feel helpless.
The fear is real but so is the stagnation, the stalling, the mark timing, the going round in cycles- a feeling of de’ja’vu, that comes with holding on to things that you shouldn’t be holding on to. And especially holding onto something or even someone that is hurting you; that is causing you more harm than good.
Status quo is not always good especially if you are constantly hurt, constantly worried, constantly afraid, you feel threatened, unsafe. At some point you have to alight from that train, to rest, heal, rejuvenate then hop onto another train. Nothing is more valuable than your peace of mind; people have lost their minds in a split second. One moment they were okay the next they lost it. All because they held on to things that they shouldn’t have been holding onto.
Yes, the truth is that you could lose things, people: relationships, the only way you had known life to be up until this point. You could lose a lot but when change happens most times, it shakes up things. And just like the different seasons of life, some things could fall off. Most especially the ones that didn’t have strong foundations. Loss might happen, but it is not compared to what you will gain. Remember even when leaves fall off from trees during fall, at some point during spring others spring up; new ones, fresh ones, beautiful ones. When you let go, yes, some things may fall off, because they were heavy loads and they needed to. And mostly because when the ones that needed to fall off, fall off, it gives room for the new to spring up. New and authentic friendships, opportunities, love etc., spring up.
yes,the fear is always there
