Who is a Man?

Who is a Man?

“Your eyes saw my unformed body…” (Psalms 139:16)

A man is a man because he was ordained to be a man.

He was always meant to be a man

He was set apart to be a man

He was created to be a man

The purpose of his life necessitated

That he be a man

He can function as who he was created to be as a man

A man is a Giver

By nature,

By his biological design

His body gives

But it is not just about the design of his body

What does he give to the environment around him

Does he give hatred

And expect Love

Does he give betrayal

And expect loyalty

See even in a family setting, the man gives the seed

The seed is incubated, nurtured

After nine months it is matured

And a baby is birthed

No matter the seed-If the seed given was from a place of anger, frustration, disappointment etc.

What is birthed will be anger, frustration, disappointment multiplied

But dear male man,

For you to give, you must receive

Question is, from where are you receiving? From the source of life or of death?

In a marital context

A man is a provider

But for you to understand this concept, you have to go to the master provider;

God

You have to receive from him for you to give

God has set in place a model of provision

He has provided the environment

For humans to function, to work, to manage

Earth

For such a time as this,

Is the habitat of humans

And all of creation

Earth is the home of all earthly creation

As a provider

God provides all sorts of seed-bearing plants but he doesn’t come to plant himself, he collaborates with man or humans to plant then he provides rain, or gives the wisdom to drill boreholes, pump water from rivers to water the plants

God provides tree seedlings

That can be planted and mature but he doesn’t curve out a table he collaborates with humans to do that, humans are earth managers

God provides minerals, ores etc, but he doesn’t come to extract things from the minerals for a variety of uses, humans do that

Humans collaborate with God to manage earth-I could go on all day but am sure you get the point.

Also, in the context of a marriage, a male man is a priest

What does a priest do?

A priest provides spiritual covering for a congregation

A man provides spiritual covering for his family; meaning he knows God for himself and leads his family to this God that he knows for them to know him more

A priest creates an environment for people to worship God

A priest is not a god but he facilitates the environment to worship God

A man within the context of a marriage is also a protector

A man is to provide a safety net for his family

Not to suffocate them

You have to look at how God does it.

He has the ability to turn humans into robots but He knows, that that is not how love works.

He doesn’t necessarily always do the protection himself or personally, many times he delegates it to the angels and then he does the overall

Angels encamp around those who fear God. For example, you can get CCTV cameras as a security measure for your home or a security dog. There is a common Kenyan phrase: Mbwa kali meaning fierce dog. Another example would be to get the relevant insurance policies for your family etc.

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’ So, God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” (Genesis 1:26-28).

Like every person; human beings in general based on the mandate given by God whether male or female is a leader. You just have to know your jurisdiction, your role in the creation plan so that you are not in another’s jurisdiction.

Leadership is about direction, providing direction through making the right decisions and taking responsibility. Everyone makes decisions, takes responsibility in their own lives which makes an impact in the larger society. Everyone is responsible for how they choose to live. It is called self-leadership. Before you decide to join with anyone, make sure you are self-leading well because how you self-manage will spill off to the next person. All the words used in Genesis 1:26-28 mandated to mankind or human beings denote leadership no matter the Bible version, this version uses rule, another uses the word responsible, another uses the word authority, another reign, another dominion. Therefore, whether it is rulership, responsibility, authority, reign, dominion they all mean leadership and it was given to every person. So, walk in dominion just know your jurisdiction, your role and play it well coz there you have dominion.

A man is strong

It is not just about physical strength

Be mentally strong, read books

Develop yourself wholly

Know how to stand up for yourself

Not necessarily physically unless it is absolutely necessarily

But use your words appropriately

Know how to negotiate

Know your value and know how to articulate it

Be spiritually strong

Know your God

You are made in his image, his nature. Because in knowing God, you will know yourself.

A man is skilful at what he does. He is competent. He knows and understands his value and how that translates to the society around him.

Dear man; male man, understand and stand in your jurisdiction because therein lies your blessing.
