My first instinct when I am in pain is to wait it out. Which I did, and it didn’t go away. So I called my best friend, who also happens to be a doctor. She asked what I needed, and I said help getting to the hospital. She couldn’t make it if she came, so she called me for help. By the time he left his place, I was already at the hospital.
So when he got there, he sat by my bedside. I wasn’t alone through the toughest news of my life, and I will always be grateful for that.
You held my hand when I had to stand and waited for me as I went through each door to take tests. You got me water when I needed to hydrate and passed me my shoes when I was asked to stand.
When I got referred, you went home with me and helped me to prepare. Then, right before we left, you prayed and asked God to preserve my life. In that moment I felt so loved and got another reason to be strong.
You were with me until I took a vehicle to the hospital and promised to call me later.When I got discharged, you came every day, bringing me fruits and reassurance. No matter how late it got, you always showed up. In my weakness, you still counted me as his friend. I continue to learn what friendship and showing up mean from you.
It’s been over a month, and you still come to check on me. I know how much effort it takes to be there for another human being like the way you are there for us.
Constantly, you have shown up and shown us love. For every step you don’t ask why? You just ask what needs to get done, and then you do it, to the purity of friendship. That you give without expectations, a love like that of Christ, so pure in every way.
My daughter says you are kind and sweet, which I can’t say in better words.
So today I celebrate our friendship. I don’t know what to give you that would be enough for how much you have been a blessing.I don’t know how to say thank you for the sacrifices you have made to be my friend.
May God who sees me bless you.For every single need in your life, I pray that it all aligns.
