The pregnancy journey is the process of carrying a baby from conception to birth. It’s a 40-week process that’s divided into three trimesters.
Conception
• The egg travels from the ovary to the uterus through the fallopian tube
• If the egg meets sperm, it’s fertilized and conception occurs
• The fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining, triggering the placenta to form
Trimesters
• First trimester: Weeks 1–13, from conception to about 12 weeks
• Second trimester: Weeks 14–26, from about 13 to 27 weeks
• Third trimester: Weeks 27–40, from about 28 to 40 weeks
Symptoms
• During the first trimester, you might experience nausea, fatigue, or increased energy
• During the second trimester, you might experience carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back pain, stretch marks, and more
Nutrition
• Eat a healthy diet with enough fruits, vegetables, protein, dairy, and whole grains
• Avoid foods and drinks that might cause stomach upset or diarrhea
