Briton killed by Ruto’s motorcade identified

NAIROBI, KENYA-MARCH, 14,2025—Kenyan Authorities on Friday revealed that the person killed in a tragic road accident that involved Kenya’s President William Ruto’s motorcade near Adams Arcade in Nairobi is a British national, Edgar Charles Frederick.

The National Police Service (NPS) Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, said that Frederick, 79 was hit by a government vehicle attached to the Nairobi Regional Coordinator’s office.

The police report further indicated that the driver of the vehicle, arrested on Thursday during the fatal road crash was freed on cash bail and is expected to be arraigned in court.

“We have informed the late Frederick’s next of kin of the fatal accident that occurred on Thursday in Nairobi,” said Nyaga.

the deceased body was first taken to Nairobi city mortuary before it was transferred to Lee Funeral home. A postmortem exercise will be conducted.

The victim was hit by a vehicle in President William Ruto’s motorcade along Ngong Road, Nairobi.

The accident occurred near Adams Arcade as the presidential convoy was traveling from Lang’ata heading to Kibra during president Ruto’s week-long tour in Nairobi county.

Witnesses said the victim was trying to cross the road when he was struck by a speeding government vehicle.

Emergency response arrived at the accident scene to salvage the situation but the victim was already dead.

The driver of the speeding government vehicle did not stop after hitting the foreign national.

Nyaga also said the police had inspected the vehicle involved in the accident as investigations continue.
